COMMUNITY of elderly Sisters at ‘BETHANY’ in Ambatolampy

a happy experience we had with the prisoners of Ambatolampy.

Father Jose Alain and Sister Clementine often tell us about their initiatives. Sister Clementine spends much of her time recruiting donors who can make donations to help them carry out their activities. It was because of this that we were able, with the collaboration of everyone, to give 296 detainees a meal on 23rd.

The weather was magnificent. At 9.00 am we gathered together for a beautiful ceremony animated by the prisoners; celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation followed by Eucharist. Even the Lord Mayor was present.

They sang some « Hira gasy », Malagacy songs, before the meal. The detainees queued up with plates and cutlery and they enjoyed rice, pork, potatoes and warm green vegetables (“bredes”) What a feast!
Each one was given some soap and the most needy also received some clothes.
They thanked us with a good speech and an emotive song.
We went our separate ways at about 2.00 pm after this joyful sharing; a little moment of light in a world that is in great need of it
