September 2022: a new community settles in the hospital of Ngovayang (CAMEROON)

Bishop Damase ATANGANA, Bishop of KRIBI in South Cameroon, has launched an urgent appeal to our Congregation to take in charge a diocesan hospital located in the village of NGOVAYANG, in the heart of the tropical forest of South Cameroon, 95 km north-east of Kribi, the main town of the diocese.

It is a landlocked region where 3 tribes live, including the PYGMEES of the forest.

This Pygmy population has been excluded from all kinds of progress (roads, education, medical care, evangelisation, etc.). The hospital was created right in the forest by Spanish missionaries. Due to a lack of members to take over, they withdrew.

Since the beginning of September 2022, a small community has settled in and is in charge of the hospital.

This patient is in isolation because he has got tuberculosis and is very happy with the visit of the Sisters; as well as with the care that Sr Noëlla provides him.
