FRANCE " Saint Thomas Priory ": undertaking necessary works / planning the future of the 4ha park

St Thomas Priory Rose Garden - Epernon (France)

The Saint Thomas Priory, Welcome House and Spiritual Centre of the Sisters of Christ (FRANCE) has had significant work carried out since 2005, but much still remains to be done, particularly in the old buildings housing people in distress. The decrease in occupancy due to the pandemic is weakening the future prospects.

Since 2005, the St Thomas Priory has had significant work carried out to bring it up to the standards required for houses open to the public. However, an old part reserved for the reception of people in distress still requires work: windows to be changed, individual sanitary facilities to be installed in the rooms...

Enhance the beauty of the park and preserve it to ensure its renewal and sustainability.

Better preservation means, for example, anticipating the need to cut down trees in a hurry because they are becoming dangerous.
It is a way of caring for our common home so that all visitors to the Priory can continue to enjoy a beautiful park that reveals God.

In order to be guided in this process, we asked a landscape architect friend to draw up a proposal which consists of

  •     an in-depth visit of the park to carry out a survey of the groups of trees
  •     talking to the companies currently working on the park
  •     sharing the inventory and the issues with the association that manages the whole property and defining the strategy and actions to be taken.

Other projects may result from this: for example, making a presentation of the different trees in the park to enable visitors to discover them, opening the park to the public on specific occasions...

This proposal amounts to €2,880.
