50 years of the Sisters of Christ – Europe Region

A mass was celebrated at the church of Saint Pierre by Monsignor Georges Soubrier

In addition to celebrating the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ, on August 6th, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our congregation in Epernon.

A Mass was celebrated at the church of Saint Pierre by Monsignor Georges Soubrier, bishop emeritus of Nantes, accompanied by Father Adam, parish priest, and three other priests including an associate of the Sisters of Christ. The Mass began with words of welcome from Sister Marie-Aimée Magnier, General Councillor:

… For fifty years now, we have been pursuing our path, willed by God, with Trust, Faith and Hope, working in the midst of a world that is both divided and striving for Unity, in Fidelity to our Charism.

In this Jubilee Year, we give thanks for this breath of the Spirit who has given rise to Unity, and we ask for the grace to renew this founding impulse even today. … Listening to these words of Cardinal Marty pronounced during the homily at the Mass of December 29, 1976, they continue to speak to us forcefully:

"It is a great Hope today for you, but also a great Hope for the Church... Our Hope has only one source: it is God; and God who every morning is new to us. For God continues his creation. He creates; his Spirit is moreover the Creator Spirit. So, every morning God is new because He creates at every moment. »

This thanksgiving was celebrated with a heart filled with emotion and gratitude for our history and our present. To remember the call and creative action of the Holy Spirit who continues to work wonders in us, who continues to give us the joy of a positive outlook and a broader mission towards the future of our Congregation.

An excerpt from Father Adam's homily that testifies both to his knowledge of the history of the sisters of Christ and to his confidence in the mission entrusted to us:

« On this day of grace, the whole Church joins in your thanksgiving. Fifty years... In Sacred Scripture, the Jubilee is always a time when we remember the wonders of God, when we recognize that all is grace and when we set out again with renewed confidence. What a beautiful coincidence of Providence that your fiftieth anniversary is celebrated on the feast of the Transfiguration! For this mystery is that of light, communion and hope. It reveals Christ in all his splendour so that the disciples can go through the trial of the Cross without losing heart.

In the Gospel, we see Peter who would like to erect three tents on the Mount of Transfiguration. He wants to remember this moment of happiness. But the Father's voice immediately refocuses our gaze: "This is my beloved Son... listen to him!" »

Even today, the Lord leads us to this mountain. But he leads us there to remind us that all consecrated life has only one center: Jesus Christ.

This is precisely what your name proclaims. Not the sisters of a work, a project or an idea, but the Sisters of Christ, called to make Him the heart of their existence ».

May this new Apostolic Year grant us to live what we believe, so that we may be witnesses, personally and together, to Jesus Christ, Principle and Maker of Unity.
